Arrest Records in Comal County

Comal County arrest records begin with the agency that takes a person into custody. The Sheriff's Office covers unincorporated areas, warrants, and county jail operations. New Braunfels, Schertz, Bulverde, Garden Ridge, and Fair Oaks Ranch police retain their city reports. Constables, Texas DPS Highway Patrol, and school or campus police can create their own reports within their authority. The Comal County Jail then creates a separate booking if the person is delivered there.

The first 40 pages are free, with later pages at $0.10 each. Large requests can add research or assembly costs. Exact cash or money order is accepted, and unpaid charges stop mail or email delivery. Social Security, driver-license, and birth-date details may be blacked out.

Describe an existing record and give a focused date range, location, booking number, or incarceration date. The form also provides fields for an alternate mailing address and a detailed statement of what is sought. Active law-enforcement information may be withheld under Government Code section 552.108, while basic offense information can be treated differently. Juvenile, victim, medical, and other protected data follow separate rules. A ten-business-day Attorney General ruling deadline is not the same as a production deadline.

Arrest Records: What They Contain

An arrest report and a booking profile overlap, but they are not the same. The agency report can include the report number, time, place, officer, probable-cause narrative, alleged statute, witnesses, property, and warrant basis. The jail record centers on intake, charge, fingerprint transaction, property, bond, custody, and release. Check the field's source before treating it as a final court fact.

Comal County Arrest Charges Can Change

The intake charge reflects the officer's allegation at booking. The prosecutor can accept it, reject it, reduce it, enhance it, or file a different charge supported by the report. A magistrate addresses rights, probable cause, and bond soon after arrest, but that step still does not equal a conviction. The later complaint, information, or grand jury indictment defines the filed court allegation.

Arrest Records vs Conviction Records

Comal County arrest and conviction records answer different questions. The agency and jail document the allegation and custody. The court decides whether a filed charge ends in dismissal, acquittal, deferred adjudication, or a judgment of guilt.
